Ahh Thursday.
I spent most of today bumbling around trying to pass the time before squash which was booked for 16:15, I lost 3-2 :-( good games though. I had to for-go cycling there for fear of getting blown off my bike, besides it was fucking pissing down and I've only just defeated a cough/cold.
Anyway after making short work of some haddock in parsley sauce and a huge pile of mixed veg I set to work on todays beer. And it is a good 'un.
Earlier in the calendar I pulled out Untapped Ember, and the brewers 2nd appearance hasn't disappointed.
Untapped Eclipse is exactly the sort of dark ale I love to drink. It smells like chocolate and coffee, but it's light - the taste has hints of chocolate and coffee too, but there's a great roasted malty flavour.
It's less sweet than the Ember which is good - it's very smooth and has a great balance.
Additional (added 00:17) - I just came to rinse the bottle out to add to the fireplace and there was a few drops and some sediment left, there was quite a strong smell and taste of rum. That's a first! I wonder if the beer has rum added to it during fermentation, or if there are rum casks being used. Fascinating.
Yum.
